Rockin Elvis

Carl & Kathy Stickfort went to Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky for the preview and sale. This was the American Hunter Pony Classic featuring one of their very own namely Rockin Elvis a registered 1/2 Arabian and 1/2 Welsh pony that had been raised at Chermedel farm and sold at auction at the International Welsh show and sale at Canfield, Ohio in August of 2005.

At the age of 7 months this weanling sold for $500, and the local people said that this was way to high for a pony.

Under his new owner Rockin Elvis had placed 5th at the prestigious Devon Hunter show.

Carl & Kathy arrived at the Kentucky Horse Park on Tuesday, August 12th for the preview. On August 13th they attended the auction. They met many top trainers and agents both at the preview and also the sale. They were treated like royalty when they found out they were breeders.

How ironic that the final price on Rockin Elvis was a mere $14,500 when the hammer fell, and he was a no sale at that price. The reserve was set at $15,000.

When the sale had hit hip number 90 (some were scratched before the number 90) the auctioneer announced that this all pony sale had broke a world record by having sales in excess of $1 million.
